Online waste education for students, schools & Organisations
Video lessons and printable worksheets for parents and teachers. Explaining how waste systems
really work. Starting with plastic.
A learning platform about waste — built for kids starting at $37
School of Recycling is an online education platform that helps children understand how waste systems actually work.
Instead of teaching simple rules, we explain materials, trade-offs, and real-world systems in a way kids can understand — and question.
Courses are structured by age, grow in complexity, and cover multiple waste streams over time. Plastic is the starting point, not the end goal.
What is School of Recycling?
Learning paths that grow with age
Courses are structured by age, increasing in depth and complexity — from basic understanding to real-world systems and trade-offs.
Ages 6–9
Understanding waste basics
What waste is, where it comes from, and what happens after we throw things away — explained in simple, concrete terms that connect to everyday life.
Ages 10-12
Materials & everyday systems
How common materials like plastic are made, used, and processed — and why recycling works sometimes, but not always.
Ages 13-16
Systems, impact & trade-offs
A deeper look at waste systems, global flows, and the unintended consequences of “good ideas” when scaled to the real world.
Ages 17 +
Reality, responsibility & decision-making
Exploring waste, consumption, and sustainability through a systems lens — preparing students to think critically about policy, design, and real-world choices.
What learners gain from School of Recycling
UNDERSTANDING OVER RULES. Learners move beyond simple do’s and don’ts, and understand how waste systems actually function.
SYSTEM THINKING. Courses explain how materials, infrastructure, economics, and human behaviour interact in the real world.
BETTER QUESTIONS. Instead of memorising answers, learners are encouraged to question claims, labels, and “easy solutions”.
REAL-WORLD PERSPECTIVE. Topics are grounded in reality — including trade-offs, limitations, and unintended consequences.
CONFIDENCE MAKE INFORMED CHOICES. With a clearer understanding, learners can make decisions based on knowledge rather than guilt.

Waste topics — starting with plastic
We approach waste as a system. Each course focuses on one stream, building real understanding step by step.

Courses available now!
We currently offer plastic-focused courses for learners aged 10–12, available in two formats.
One for learning at home, and one designed for classroom use.
Both versions cover the same core content, adapted to how and where learning happens.
For families and independent learners, designed to be followed at their own pace.
For teachers and schools, structured for group learning and lesson planning.

Built from real-world experience
School of Recycling is built on years of hands-on work with waste and education.
The approach has been tested with thousands of students through workshops, school visits, and classroom sessions.
Before being turned into structured online courses.
The goal isn’t to tell learners what to think, but to help them understand how waste systems actually work.
